What I Do

Clarity when the stakes are highest.

I'm a professional researcher with deep experience leading research projects for organizations ranging from NASA and the New York Presbyterian Hospital system to MIT and UCLA Health. I work with you as a research partner — or think of me as a research concierge — to dive deeply into the health issues that affect your life, all based on the questions that you have right now.

I use publicly-available information, a network of extraordinary health professionals, nonpublic resources, AI, conference papers and journal articles about emerging insights, and the experiences of individuals like you to discover, distill, and clarify answers. You tell me what else you want to learn, and we spend time talking through all of it.

How It Works

A partnership built around you.

Every engagement begins with listening — and ends with you knowing more than you did before.

I

A 15-minute introductory call

We talk briefly about your concerns and circumstances. I want to understand whether the chemistry feels right for you — and there's no cost for this call.

II

One hour: a deep initial conversation

We explore what you already know, what you most want to understand, and what areas — emerging treatments, ongoing trials, alternative approaches, key researchers — matter to you. I listen closely so I can plan research that fits your life.

III

Two hours: focused research on your behalf

I go deep into the landscape of relevant knowledge — drawing on traditional medical research, alternative medicine, emerging science, and AI tools used with expert judgment — and synthesize findings tailored to you.

IV

One hour: reviewing what I found

We circle back to share the research and explore it together — to discover what resonates, what raises new questions, and what feels most meaningful to you. This is where understanding becomes yours.

Investment

Transparent and flexible.

Good research requires time, and I respect yours as much as I respect my own. Here's exactly how it works.

A Reasonable Cost.

We begin with an initial four-hour engagement: one hour for our opening conversation, two hours of focused research, and one hour to explore what I've found together. From there, how much additional time I dedicate to you is entirely your decision.

Cost should never be a barrier. If you're facing an important health question, I want to find a way to work together — whatever your financial situation. Please don't let cost stop you from reaching out.

My standard rate is $300/hour for time spent talking and researching. A sliding scale fee is available.

On Artificial Intelligence

AI changes things — in good ways and bad.

Artificial intelligence allows all of us to go deeper and broader in research and learning. But it demands more critical thought, more understanding of context, and a sharper appreciation for where AI gets things wrong than most of us are used to deploying.

"I will use AI as one tool in the research toolbox — and I will play the role of the 'human in the loop' on your behalf."

I conducted the first global study of AI for members of the ILO Institute more than ten years ago. I currently advise Google Ventures on an AI project they fund, and I speak regularly with healthcare AI professionals. When AI is useful, I use it — carefully, critically, and always with your particular situation in mind.

About Peter Temes

Decades of research. Entirely in your corner.

I'm Peter Temes, leader for the past 21 years of the Institute for Innovation in Large Organizations (ILO). I began my career as a researcher and writer for a Harvard Medical School faculty member, and I've had a compelling interest in the advancement of medicine — and non-medical health advancement — for decades.

I have a PhD in the humanities from Columbia University. My deep expertise is in research as a process, and in synthesizing and communicating complex information in ways that are genuinely useful to real people.

I work with colleagues who help me with administrative tasks — but I execute all research personally, and I'm the person you'll be talking with, always.
